This permanent position is year-round 5 days a week. You must love people and thrive in a VERY fast-paced environment. 2+ years experience in coffee or food service management is required. Duties include working alongside and leading staff making hand-crafted drinks, hand assembly of sandwiches, wraps and salads (much like a Subway sandwich artist) in a VERY fast-paced environment which requires a large amount of training, knowledge and memory of our recipes and procedures. You will operate coffee equipment, high speed convection ovens, work the touch screen cash register, assist with cleaning food preparation areas, including hand washing dishes, mopping floors and perform opening and closing duties. Every team member needs to be reliable, enthusiastic, hardworking, able to multi-task in a in a very fast-paced environment, stand and move for the entire 8-9 hour shift, work as a team and provide the customers with very friendly service.
We are a drive-thru only coffee shop that also offers a wide range of handcrafted sandwiches.
Assistant manager must work closely with the owner who is present on-site 99% of the time.
Assistant Manager Expectations
Trust
- Manage the shop with the same expectations the Owner has.
- Opening and closing the restaurant.
- Balance cash register daily.
- Stock change bag daily.
- Resolve customers’ questions and grievances in a professional manner when Owner isn’t present.
- Manage the safe when Owner isn’t present.
Dependability
- Perform all duties of restaurant employees and related departments.
- Able to cover shifts when an employee calls in or if emergencies arise.
- Able to work with composure and efficiently when under pressure in a very fast paced environment.
Communication
- Clear communication with the Owner about their expectations in assisting with managing their shop.
- Communicate concerns, any shop talk or situations the Owner should be aware of.
- Communicate to the Owner any issues regarding food quality and service levels.
- Check- in with the Owner with weekly meetings.
Cleanliness
- Must be ServSafe certified.
- Ensure that the restaurant adheres to pertinent health and safety regulations.
- Able to keep the shop clean up to the Owner’s expectations.
- Manage the cleaning schedule weekly to include regular rotation of larger cleaning duties.
- Check completed cleaning tasks daily.
- Able to take extra time when needed after the shift to complete cleaning tasks as needed.
Organization
- Able to keep refrigerators, freezer, shelves and inventory organized and to Owner’s expectations.
- Maintain pastry inventory in the POS on a weekly basis.
- Manage prep.
- Manage prep for weekly specials.
- Manage backstock and apparel inventory.
An eye for detail
- Able to spot things that need to be cleaned or organized.
- Aware of procedures that aren’t being followed properly.
- Able to spot items that have damage or need repair.
- Mindful of items that may be needed to improve shop flow or customer flow.

- Making owner aware when ingredients, kitchen utensils, and equipment is needed.
- Manage FIFO, prep dates and expiration dates.
